About

SLIP includes individuals that supervise low incidence programs across the state. The vast majority of members are principals of specialized schools offering special education programming, but membership is open to anyone who supervises a low incidence program. Meetings are held the Tuesday of MAASE in Lansing during lunch. From time to time, all day meetings are held at program sites. SLIP has produced a curriculum guide for Participation and Supported Independence students and is now in the process of aligning the extended grade level content expectations to those two curriculums. SLIP has also assisted MDE in the approval of Section 53 health care aides, as well as assisted in the modification of the School Improvement Frameworks to make them applicable to specialized schools offering special education programs. This year the focus will be on AYP and what it means to specialized schools.
