The Tuesday Professional Learning Committee will be meeting during May to plan for the 2018-2019 school year. The Committee works to align the MAASE Four Focus Areas with the Professional Learning that is offered to MAASE members in order to embed high quality learning into the MAASE experience. It is the hope of the Committee that the PL that is selected assists school administrators in developing and improving skills and practices that will positively impact student outcomes.

The Tuesday Professional Learning Committee has been focused on arranging and confirming activities for the 2017-18 MAASE calendar. The committee is diligent about aligning the PL with both the MAASE Four Focus Areas and the development of strong special education leadership in Michigan. We strategically select and plan topics and presenters that will help MAASE members grow and learn new skills to impact structures within schools, and ultimately improve outcomes for students.
The December MAASE will bring John O’Connor, author of GREAT Instruction GREAT Achievement, to Lansing to share his knowledge and skills with our members.

The Tuesday PL Committee met on March 9th, 16th and April 12th. The focus of the meetings was to plan for the 2016-2017 Professional Learning. The following information was gleaned from those meetings:
1. Transformational Leadership will be the common theme/series
2. Some survey results included topics that might better be addressed at EdCamp
3. February PL will include a full day attorney presentation
4. For 2016-17, when there are 2 workshops, one will focus on leadership development and

Hot Topics
Joanne Cashman will continue the series, Leading by Convening in April. MAASE members have been working with Joanne creating Grounding Assumptions. More to come at April PL.
Dr. Jim Henry will be presenting to MAASE, Childhood Trauma as a Workshop B in April. This is a great opportunity for MAASE members, School Social Workers and Early Childhood professionals.
