ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital
Established in 2009, this site is the longest-running Project SEARCH program in Michigan, led by Instructor Lori Eshenroder, M.Ed., in partnership with the Monroe County Intermediate School District. Over the years, the site has graduated 112 interns, with 77% achieving competitive employment. Unique to this program is its strong community impact—local companies such as La-Z-Boy, FEDCO, and Tenneco revised their hiring practices to better support graduates with Certificates of Completion.
Interns gain real-world skills in Environmental Services, Food and Nutrition, Materials Management, Laundry, Patient Transport, Maintenance, and Sterile Processing. Looking ahead, the program is expanding by creating summer work experiences to boost recruitment and provide greater access to information about Project SEARCH through the ISD website.
