MAASE Administrator Coaching

What is this professional learning about?

The MAASE Administrator Coaching program provides special education administrators with individualized, year-long support from experienced leaders who understand the demands of the role. Through structured coaching conversations and relationship-based coaching, this professional learning opportunity strengthens leadership skills, reduces professional isolation, and promotes retention across Michigan.

MAASE coaches are trained through MAASE-developed professional learning aligned with evidence-based coaching practices. This initiative supports implementation of Section 27h funding and meets the unique needs of administrators who may not have access to a local support network.

  • Special Education Administrators seeking professional coaching and reflective leadership support

  • Districts that need mentoring and/or resources for new or transitioning special education administrators

When does it happen? 

This program operates on a rolling enrollment.  Annual contracts can be initiated at any time throughout the year.

Where does it happen?

The program uses a hybrid model that includes:

  • Virtual coaching meetings and planning

  • In-person opportunities during MAASE events (if applicable)

How do you get involved?

Special Education Administrators seeking a coach:
Complete the MAASE Mentorship & Coaching Interest Form to initiate the process and to be matched with a trained coach.

Program Cost

For $1,400/year, a participant will receive one-on-one coaching support and access to statewide resources.

Districts may be reimbursed up to $3,000/administrator per year under Section 27h Mentoring and Induction Grants.
