Jeff Butler Leadership Award
The Jeff Butler Scholarship supports MAASE members in their first or second year of employment as special education administrators. Providing $1,000 in professional development support, this award helps rising leaders access mentoring, attend state conferences, and build long-term administrative capacity.
Scholarship & Eligibility
A grant of $1,000 is provided to support registration fees for key MAASE professional growth opportunities, including the MAASE Summer Institute, Tuesday Professional Learning, or General Membership Meetings. Alternative opportunities aligned with MAASE priorities may also be approved.
Applicant Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must be currently employed by a Michigan school district and be a current MAASE member in their 1st or 2nd year of their initial administrative role.
Required Application Materials
- A clearly stated need for scholarship funding and a plan for fund deployment
- Demonstrated alignment with the core characteristics of the award
- Letter of support from candidate's immediate supervisor
- Two additional professional letters of recommendation
